Differentiated Assessment

This is an excellent example of a differentiated rubric that I created for a primary drama lesson. The task requires students to listen to a story, and act out scenes and characters. I had three students in my class with Individual Education Plans, who had Communication Learning Disabilities and required accommodations to support their learning. I understand the importance of ensuring that all teaching and assessment follows the goals and outcomes from student’s IEPs. The first rubric was the standard one that I created for the class. I recognized that a different rubric was necessary for my three students with Communication Disabilities. Using the ADAPT strategy, I took these student’s needs into consideration and provided an appropriate modification. The second, differentiated rubric is more student-friendly, and was much easier for them to visually comprehend how they were succeeding on the task.
